The Role of Azerbaijan’s Forests in the ‘Green’ Economy

This article examines the theoretical foundations of the role of forests in the development of the green economy, as well as the concepts and nature of the green economy. In this context, the significance of forest resources within the ecological system was examined, and an analysis was carried out of the role of Azerbaijan’s forests in the development of the green economy, including the current state of Azerbaijan’s forest resources. In this context, particular attention was paid to the environmental role and economic significance of Azerbaijan’s forests within the green economy. In addition, the paper analysed the main challenges facing Azerbaijan’s forestry sector, explored ways of improving the use of forest resources within the framework of the green economy, and examined international experience of sustainable forest management. The article concludes by assessing the prospects for the development of forestry and providing practical recommendations for the development of a green economy in Azerbaijan’s forestry sector.
